I’ve always appreciated people who were honest about their struggles, hearing about them made me realize that I’m not the only person that thinks “Hey I don’t know what I’m doing”. I would feel unsure of myself because it seemed that I was the one messing up, while life seemed to work out for everyone. I myself have the tendency of putting on a brave face, but I’m learning to master the art of being vulnerable and telling the truth of how I really feel. As much as we want to pretend that we don’t have these thoughts or feelings here are some thoughts we all have from time to time.

I can guarantee that in your life someone has pointed out your insecurities or brought to your attention that you should be insecure about something. It has almost become normal to project your insecurities onto someone else. Trust me from experience we’re all insecure, your family member that just feels that it’s necessary to point out your acne that you already see on a daily basis or that you’ve gained weight even though you can see it in the pants you wear, yup they’re insecure too.

People-pleasing is something I still struggle with in my adult life, I used to be so critical of myself for trying so hard, I have come to terms that some people aren’t just meant to mesh well so I’m not going to take it personally if someone doesn’t like me. In the age of social media, I soon realized that I wasn’t the only person that was seeking validation from other people. It’s human nature to want to be liked, so if you’re worried you trying too hard just remember that everyone at one point in their lives has tried to win the approval of someone else.

I’ve had the same dreams as everyone else a car, house, marriage, kids, and a career. I used to think that if you had all those things you would be happy and it meant you were doing something right, it would be nice if that’s how it worked out. Life is not set in stone and there’s always a chance that you might start over again.

I’m a big believer in living with no regrets but truthfully I’ve had some mistakes I wish I could have handled differently. Those thoughts do pop up in our heads on whether we should have known better or done better. It’s not a bad thing to have to want to have done something differently but it’s a waste of time to dwell on it. It would be nice if we all had a do ever but all we can do is live for today.

I had to pay close attention to my thoughts to notice my mind’s hidden superiority complex. It’s not really hard to miss if you spend your time anywhere on the internet. In any comment section, there is always criticism, and even if the person didn’t intentionally try to sound holier than though it still comes across that way. We want to be morally superior and believe that we are the voice of reason, without noticing we put other’s down. As much as I judged my friends for wanting to feel important, I did too. We all want to feel special because we have an ego, there’s nothing wrong with having one, just keep an eye on it.
