If you’re new to the gluten free life, me too.

About a month new to be exact. I absolutely love food. So when I learned I had Celiacs Disease, I knew I had a lot of research to do in order to still be able to eat my everyday foods. Or at least, find the best alternatives I could. So that’s what I’m doing.

My mission: Find the best, yummiest, and most nutritious ways to still incorporate all of my favorite foods while staying GF.

Keep reading to see what gluten free products I’ve tried, what I keep around the house, and my current favorite breakfast that’s so satisfying and energizing.

Talking Linguini now. I’ve eaten pasta for 22 years of my life. So when I learned I had celiacs-disease as I turned 23, I just had to shed a few tears for my traditional love affair with pasta.

Over the last few weeks however I’ve learned there’s an entire world of opportunity for gluten-free options that mock products I’ve enjoyed my whole life. And honestly, might even be a better option altogether.

  1. Banza pasta. Unlike classic pasta, this brand makes their pasta from chickpeas and apparently that’s a pretty good way to do it. I feel better eating pasta knowing it’s plant based, and full of good proteins and carbs anyways. Banza’s website also offers a variety of recipes for great dishes to make at home.

2. Jovial Brown Rice Pasta

I’ve learned I like rice pasta, Jovial especially, because this brand offers a texture that I genuinely wouldn’t notice isn’t ‘normal’ pasta. I’ve also learned that corn — which I try to avoid, is a common ingredient in a lot of gluten-free products especially breads (coming up next) and pastas. So this brand is a good option for it’s minimal, whole ingredients, and tasty qualities.

  1. Canyon Bakehouse

Incredibly suitable. The Canyon Bakehouse brand gives a nice squishy to crunchy dynamic that I want when I bite into a piece of bread. Canyon Bakehouse is a good alternative to morning toast and even just your regular sandwiches because they offer an assortment of flavors, and bread styles.

2. Schar

This is hands down my favorite bread that I’ve tried so far. Not only is it packed with ingredients like seeds, quinoa, flax, pumpkin, sunflower, and chia seeds — But it’s gluten free sourdough. Yes. Please. I’m a huge toast lover. Sometimes I don’t think any dish, michelin star or not can beat a simple piece of toast with butter. When I found this bread I was so excited because it’s got the beautiful crunch of a good sourdough and tastes great. Definitely give it a try.

  1. Bobo’s

To me, oatmeal products are always super satisfying and keep me full so they’re a great mid day snack. More often times than not, protein / energy bars have gluten. Bobo’s is a super yummy because of its variety of sweet flavors and it’s also a healthy snack option as a good source of carbs. The chocolate chip flavor specifically is a very good substitute for a late night chocolate chip cookie craving might I add.

2. Luna Bar

Um, yum. Failing to meal prep consistently happens for me pretty often. Luna bars are yummy and healthy, but most importantly they keep me feeling full when I inevitably forget to pack my lunch.

1. Jeni’s

Absolute wins for the gluten free community with this one. Not every flavor of this brand is GF but there’s definitely a good selection to choose from. Not much needs to be said here; Jeni’s is delicious, creamy, and consistently satisfying.

  • Nuts
  • Popcorn
  • Vegetables with dip (hummus is great) Currently loving snap peas and everything hummus — very satisfying.
  • Energy bars
  • Healthy proteins
  • Healthy carbs
  • Healthy fats

Boom.

At the moment I am absolutely loving a morning smoothie and a breakfast bar. It keeps me full, and helps my body and mind feel happy.

Satisfying breakfast smoothie:

1/2 Avocado

1 Banana

1–1/12 Cup frozen organic fruit — Keyword: frozen.

That’s it! So simple, yet so good and fills me up for the whole morning.

Fruity goodness.

The breakfast bar I am currently having with this smoothie is the Luna, Nutz Over Chocolate bar. The sweet, creaminess of the smoothie with the crunchy, nutty, chocolate bar is so much fun. Especially for a healthy and super simple breakfast.

I very much am enjoying doing some morning yoga and then making myself this breakfast because even though it’s filling, it’s very light. No sluggishness allowed.
