There was no official announcement or fanfare to let people know that work on the new greenway from Omeath to the border had been completed. Instead, news spread among locals, walkers and cyclists that this eagarly anticipated continuation of the popular Carlingford to Omeath greenway was now ready to explore.

While the Carlingford to Omeath greenway follows the route of the old GNR railway line, with stunning views across Carlingford Lough to the Mourne Mountains, this latest section meanders from the coast through fields, along quiet country roads, and back to the shore. It goes from the pier in Omeath through four of Omeath’s ten townlands: Drummullagh, Knocknagoran, Lislea, ending at Cornamucklagh.
