As a huge cake fan myself I know the feeling of a bite of heavenly fudgy brownie slice.. oh in that split second am in cloud nine but as soon as am done with that piece I am nowhere near satisfaction nor with a filled tummy.. that craving just gets worse! And why the heck is that? Let’s find out
Yeah you read that right.. do you know that sugar is biologically addictive? Let’s say it’s like organic cocaine! More sugar you eat, more you crave for it.. it also has so many forms like breads, syrups, candies, breakfast cereal and etc etc.. simply we are trapped in a surgery world, so our mind constantly thinks of binge on those is really normal.. but also that’s the worst thing we can do for our body. It will not stop at weight gaining It will also mess with our hormones, metabolism and brain chemistry..so we did some reading on sustainable ways of reducing sugar cravings, here are some trics that will help you out.
If you have stand by choclates and cookies in your fridge or cabinet, avoiding them doesn’t make sense right? So start by getting rid of them, stack up on healthy snacks like nuts, seeds and fruits.
Addition of about 20-30g of protein to your meals every day will really help to reduce sugar cravings coz sometimes what we have is hunger not a craving so having a filling meal is really helpful. Try to avoid breakfast cereal at morning coz it has added sugar in it.. starting your day off with protein rich diet is better than a sugery meal.
Before purchasing any packed foods read the label carefully.. look out for added ingredients like syrups, sugars, corn syrup. Always go for whole foods rather than processed food. Experts even say stop all the packaged foods (if you are willing to go that far.. good for you!)
There are so many irresistible drinkable calories with high sugar levels like soda, sweet coffee, energy drinks and list goes on. Be mindful to avoid them as they will NOT satisfy your hunger. It will only spike up your blood sugar level and you will need more meals to fill you up.
If you are stressed out then eating some chocolates will help you as it spikes up the happy hormones so you’ll feel better, however it’s just a moment of happiness, not the solution for your problems. So managing your stress wisely like mindful lifestyle changes is important.
If you have your favorite cake or ice cream right in front of you and couldn’t eat a piece.. What kind of horror story is that? Don’t forget to indulge once in a while.. don’t be too hard on yourself, it will make you indulge like crazy once you get a chance. After all we are humans, sometimes little celebrations accompanied with some sweet treats are what makes our life beautiful.
Sugar is not a monster if we consume it wisely
