MYTH – Is Cancer on rise since COVID vaccinations.

FACT – No. There is no evidence of the same. A significant decrease in all cancer-related patient encounters as a result of the pandemic. The steep decreases in cancer screening and patients with a new incidence of cancer suggest the possibility of a future increase in patients with later-stage cancer being seen initially as well as an increased demand for cancer screening procedures as delayed tests are rescheduled. It is nothing to do with vaccinations.

MYTH – Cancer a process of the body healing itself. Cancer heals by fasting.

FACT – No, There is no direct evidence that fasting can heal Cancer.

However, some research findings have shown a positive correlation between Cancer treatment and prevention and fasting. A research done on mice has shown that a time restricted diet can help control obesity and type 2 diabetes. Since obesity is a contributing factor to Cancer, it can be derived that the process will have some impact in Cancer prevention too.

Another research has shown that periodic fasting mimicking diet has led to reduced risk of Cancer.

Another research had shown that skin Cancer and breast Cancer patients who resorted to fasting along with regular Chemotherapy treatment have seen a slower progression of the disease.

Fact Check: Is Cancer a process of the body healing itself?

MYTH – Dandelion roots kill 98% of Cancer cells in 48 hours.

FACT – Not yet proven. Though dandelion root extracts have shown the potential to become a Cancer treatment drug, there is still no conclusive evidence on the same. Furthermore, there is no evidence to the claim “98% Cancer cells in 48 hours.”

The theory originated from an article published on the website Health Eternally in 2016 titled “Scientists Find Root That Kills 98% of Cancer Cells in Only 48 Hours.” The article did not link to any particular research or study, however mentioned about researchers at the University of Windsor in Ontario. In the same year, researchers at the University of Windsor published a study that showed dandelion root extracts triggered cell death in more than 95% of colon cancer cells within 48 hours. However, this study was done on a Petridis in the laboratory and was not replicated on the human body through clinical trials.
