After a long day on the water or out hiking, I always make sure to relax and have a glass of wine in a big bath filled with Epsom salts and an excessive number of bubbles. I’m a firm believer that you can never outgrow a good bubble bath. However, in all seriousness, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve become a creature of habit, and this is one (of many) ways that I practice self-care. I like to think of it as a thank you to my body — I need to take care of it to ensure that it is healthy, able, and strong enough to allow me to do everything that I need it to do. However, with summer temperatures on the rise, my typical facial-care routine has left my skin dry and irritated, so I’ve turned to a variety of all-natural, homemade remedies, which have consisted of a lot of trial-and-error.
Needless to say, my kitchen counters are now cluttered with coffee grounds, sea salt, honeycomb, and a variety of essential oils. Fortunately, my experimentation has paid off. I’m happy to say that I’ve found the most hydrating and exfoliating all-natural face scrub on the internet. Good Housekeeping’s hydrating honey cherry face scrub sloughs away dead skin while, nourishing the healthy stuff, leaving my face glowing. The best part — you can get all 5 of these ingredients at your local grocery store.
1 tbsp almond powder
1/4 cup honey
1 tbsp brown sugar
3 tbsp yogurt
Mix together and gently scrub onto skin for 30 seconds, then rinse with warm water.
Your skin will thank you 🙂
