  • 4 large bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (100 g) chopped tomatoes (fresh or canned)
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp (5 g) dried oregano
  • 1 tsp (5 g) dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 g) salt
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 g) black pepper
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Step 1: Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Step 2: Prepare the Bell Peppers:

— Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.

— If needed, trim the bottoms slightly so the peppers can stand upright.

— Place the peppers in a baking dish, standing up.

  • Step 3: Cook the Filling:

— In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

— Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 3–4 minutes.

— Add the ground beef (or turkey) to the skillet. Cook until the meat is browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, about 7–10 minutes.

— Stir in the chopped tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes to let the flavors combine.

  • Step 4: Stuff the Peppers:

— Spoon the meat mixture into the prepared bell peppers, filling them evenly.

— Top each stuffed pepper with shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.

  • Step 5: Bake the Peppers:

— Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

— After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the peppers are tender.

— Remove the stuffed peppers from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.

— Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

— Bell Peppers: Choose peppers that are similar in size for even cooking.

— Ground Meat: You can use ground beef, turkey, chicken, or even pork based on your preference.

— Cheese: Feel free to use different types of cheese, such as cheddar or Monterey Jack, for variety.

— Vegetables: You can add extra vegetables like chopped zucchini or spinach to the filling for more nutrients.
